Health Camp - 11.11.2010
Health camp was held on 11th November 2010 at Jagat Mata Kushth Ashram, Tilak Nagar, West Delhi. People Affected by Leprosy (PAL) hesitate seeking services from health care facilities because of fear of being ostracized by the general public. This health seeking behavior of PAL leads to the neglect of their health.
Potential in Community - 1 Nov 2010
“What is the cost of this goggle, I need 3 pieces?” This question was asked by Mr. Ghanshyam Dikshit, Self Care Coordinator, NLR, to a person standing in an Optical shop of Yusuf Sarai Market in Delhi. A lady came out from inner room and asked “3 pieces? Why you need 3 pieces”.
‘Not for me but for persons affected by leprosy. We, at NLR, provide them services from donated money” Mr. Dikshit briefly apprised her about the NLR functioning. She immediately said “take these 3 goggles as donation from my side”.
Visit of Ms. Wievenlien Punt 21 Oct 2010
As part of the process to establish a country wide result based monitoring system for NLR, Ms. Wievenlien Punt, Consultant (Monitoring & Evaluation) from NLR Amsterdam, visited India for about 5 weeks in the month of October 2010. Reconstructive Surgeries performed - 13 - 14 Oct 2010
NLR India facilitated a Reconstructive Surgery Camp at Dehradun, Uttarakhand, where 8 persons, with deformity, due to leprosy, were operated for correction of their deformities and healing of ulcers. Other 5 cases were given minor surgical treatment. Dr. A. K. Updating & Review Meeting of NLR staff, 7 - 8 Jul 2010
This was the second review meeting of all NLR staff in the year 2010 organized at Dhanbad, Jharkhand, in which all NMSs, account officer from Branch office staff, participated in this meeting. This meeting was for two days to accommodate different topics. Purpose of this meeting was four fold:
- To review the progress made till end of second quarter of the year 2010
- To update them with recent advances/information e.g. Advocacy and Counselling writing skills, Epidemiological analysis etc
- Follow up and recapitulation of topics discussed in last meeting eg.Computer skills, file management ,accounts formats and procedures etc
- To discuss the problems faced by individuals/team & to introduce new appointees Mr Mantosh Mahto NMS
Updating & Review meeting of NLR staff, 3 - 5 May
This was the first meeting of all NLR staff in the year 2010. All NLR LPAs, all NMSs, all Branch office staff, participated in this meeting. Support to Leprosy Colonies
NLR is supporting persons affected by Leprosy residing in isolated Leprosy colonies. NLR is training them to take care of their disabilities themselves. While visiting these colonies, NLR realized that Leprosy doesn’t affect only the persons but their dependents also. Support these children...
