NLR India helping in applying for Unique Disability ID card

On 5th August 2024, NLR India’s Colony Coordinator, Ms. Urmila Kumari, and Mental Health Officer, Mr. Rohit Tiwari, visited Lok Mata Kusht Ashram (LMKA) at Patel Nagar, New Delhi, to orient the persons affected with leprosy and their dependents on unique disability identity card (UDID) card and its benefits in getting the support of government schemes and pensions. Though the persons affected were aware of the UDID card due to transportation and mobility issues, they were unable to apply for the same. Most of the people in the colony did not have UDID cards, due to which they faced problems in availing the benefits of government schemes and getting pensions, etc. Through the efforts of our staff i.e. Ms. Urmila, and Mr. Rohit, key information was provided about how UDID cards of the beneficiaries can be made and apply online.

NLR India has started a special drive on mission mode for supporting persons affected by leprosy and their dependents, to apply for the card (online) and ensure that they receive the UDID card, and this drive will be carried out across all leprosy colonies where we work. We collected the data and documents of the beneficiaries and applied online for the UDID card of 19 persons affected with leprosy on 5th August at the LMKA colony. The people of the colony were very happy and they thanked NLR India for this support.
