NLR India Team organized a week-long Plantation Drive which was carried out from the 5th to the 13th of June, in observance of World Environment Day (WED) which falls on the 5th of June 2024. Across several locations in six states namely Delhi, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, our staff planted 455 saplings in leprosy colonies, community parks, and office premises, etc, 455 with the support of a total of 377 stakeholders from communities, peer supporters, beneficiaries, change agents and government agencies (Forestry Department, Health/Leprosy Cell etc.). During the drive, our staff also spread general awareness about WASH, heat stroke, etc. to the community. This is our first such initiative as we have taken a pledge with USAID’s Sustainable Action for Climate Health (SACH) towards a greener /healthier Planet. This effort not only brings more green spaces but also supports communities affected by leprosy. Each sapling represents hope, growth, and a commitment to a healthier environment for everyone. Let’s celebrate this wonderful initiative and continue to work towards a greener future together.
