Sirajul Ansari- A Story of Healing and Hope
Sirajul Ansari, a 22-year-old from Rolagram (Momin Tola), Maheshpur, in the Pakur district of Jharkhand, began his journey with leprosy on January 25, 2021. Seeking treatment at the Community Health Center (CHC) in Maheshpur, he was guided by the CHC’s Medical Officer and Mr. Jyotishjee, a Paramedical Worker (PMW).
Encouraged by Sahiya worker Mrs. Pramila Biwi, Sirajul visited the CHC with ulcers on his left foot. Diagnosed with Multi-Bacillary (MB) leprosy, he was prescribed a year-long Multi-Drug Therapy (MB-MDT) regimen. The medical team also trained him in self-care practices to manage his foot ulcer.
Sirajul completed his treatment on December 25, 2021, and was officially declared Released from Treatment (RFT) in January 2022. Through diligent self-care and continuous support from the PMW and Sahiya, his ulcer completely healed.
Sirajul expressed immense gratitude to the Medical Officer, PMW, and Sahiya for their unwavering support. Thanks to their care and the self-care kit, including MCR shoes, his ulcer healed, and he now faces no discrimination or stigma in his community.
